Airbrush Beginner Frustration

So you’ve been looking at all that cool airbrush art and you have decided to give it a try, looks easy enough, right? So you go and get your first airbrush, you take it out of the box, fill it with paint and then….. disappointment sets in! Slow down, there is some set up that needs to be done first. You need to set up your compressor correctly, make sure your paint is reduced correctly and flowing through your brush nicely, now the beautiful picture, right? Wrong. What you have to understand is the awesome pictures you see online are done by airbrush artist that have been doing it for years. You can get very good in a short period of time, it just depends on how much you practice, I have a saying when some one says… “you are a great artist”, I say,,, No! I have many hours of practice. You have to start at the beginning, dot line’s, shading and dagger strokes. It is the fundamental basics and it needs to be learned, you can’t just jump ahead. I remember wanting to quit because I would fight with the brush more than paint with it! You know what I mean, trying all different air pressures, trying to get the right mix of paint to reducer so the paint will come out of the gun, tip dry!!! Ugh! Calm down, it will get better. You have a lot of cool resources at your finger tips that us older guys and girls didn’t have, the internet! Now that you watched the video’s on how to get set up properly, what your air pressure should be set at and how to mix your paint…. Now PRACTICE! PRACTICE! PRACTICE! You will get there, just how quick, depends on how bad you want it.
